MissEarth2015The Philippines’ pride, Angelia Gabrena Ong was crowned Miss Earth 2015. The coronation night was held on December 5, 2015  in Vienna, Austria. This joyful moment happens to be Philippines’ second time in a row to win in the said competition. In 2008, Karla Henry won the title followed by Jamie Herrell in 2014. Ong, a 24-year-old marketing management student from the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, outshined 85 other contenders for the title.

It is the first time in 15 years since two Filipinas won the title in a row.

In the question-and-answer portion, the 25-year-old beauty said that if she would come up with a slogan for the next 15 years of the pageant, it would be “”We will, because we can.”

The runners-up were: Dayanna Grageda of Australia, who was named Miss Earth Air (first runner-up); Brittany Payne as Miss Earth Water (second runner-up) and Thiessa Sickert as Miss Earth Fire (third runner-up).

Miss Earth, which was first held in 2001, is among the world’s largest beauty contests. The 2015 edition also marks the first time that the coronation night was held in Europe.
